Shh By Sadie on Once'It

Hi all, I MADE IT HOME! Yay! I don't recommend these 37 hour journeys to anyone. You get on the plane fresh as a daisy and disembark looking like a hobo! It's good to be home though.

I'm just writing a quick post today to say I WILL be blogging from Wales. AND my Shh By Sadie jewellery is for sale on 'invite only' site Once'It tomorrow!! A limited number of pieces will be for sale at discounted prices. This is one of the things that kept me frantically busy last week before I left NZ.

To access the sale, use this link (and feel free to share it!)

How is your week going?

Polishing my silver

Hey all, yay for FRIDAYS!

This week I wore some of my silver rings for a change. Then when I looked at them (whilst out) I was shocked at how grubby they looked. I used to wear silver jewellery all the time, but nowadays I tend to opt for costume jewellery and so have neglected my tarnished silver bling.
So I sat down and polished some of my favourite pieces. And it was actually very therapeutic!

Whilst 'polishing my silver' it made me remember the little stories behind a lot of the pieces (rings in particular) and then it made me sad that I don't wear them often anymore.

I'm so enthralled (like a magpie!) by my new costume jewellery that I forget about the memories behind my more expensive pieces.

But I guess they'll still be around when the costume jewellery is dead and buried... :)

I call this guy Nelson, after the town in which I bought him. He's by a very talented NZ jeweller, Jewels Vine. His feet and wings move!
I bought this silver charm ring in the Mumbles, Wales, whilst shopping with my youngest sister. It was in the weeks before I was moving to NZ and the last day shopping we spent together before the big move.
These are some of my favourite rings: a Christmas gift from an ex (NO sentimental value! I just love the ring (I chose it!), a HUGE silver and amethyst ring by a NZ designer, and a little ring I picked up in a market in Abergavenny years ago.
My silver ball earrings, bought in Bath.
More favourites. Bottom left is a gift from another ex, and bottom right was a birthday present from my parents shortly before I moved to NZ (by a Welsh jeweller).
More silver rings - bought in Antibes (France), Wales, Croatia and the Bahamas. I like to buy jewellery on my travels it seems!

I had a thing for butterfly rings for a while!
Left: gift from my sister Alice before I moved to NZ; middle, gift from an ex for my university graduation; right, bought in Croatia - its wings flutter :)

I have small hands but wear huge rings - hmm!?!?

And last but not least, my favourite of all, my Tiffany charm bracelets with charms bought from Tiffany stores on my travels <3
Does your jewellery tell a story?

Tag Me - Tag You

Hi all, something a bit different today! I was tagged by Tasha at Tasha's Treasure Trove a couple of weeks ago and have finally sat down to follow it. I like these kinds of posts, they're always interesting to nosy people like myself!
So here are the rules for the people I tag -

1. You must post 11 random things about yourself
2. Answer the questions the tagger set for you in their post
3. Create 11 new questions for the people you tag to answer
4. Go to their blog and tell them you've tagged them
5. No stuff about "you're tagged if you're reading this" - legitimately tag people
So as this is quite a long 'tag' I will keep the 11 random facts short and sweet.
1. I don't know what colour eyes I have. Either hazel or green. I'm weird huh?!

2. I met Sir Ian McKellen last year (at a charity cricket event). And didn't know he was gay! Hahahaha.

3. When I was small I told my mum I wanted to work in the Spar.

4. There is an embarrassing amount of dogs with the name Sadie.

5.My favorite flower is a daffodil (can you tell I'm Welsh?). And in the first year of dating, the bf bought me 200 daffodils. Twice. :)
6. I love cheese. Feta and halloumi are my favourites.

7.  I have never watched Labyrinth. Nor Top Gun.

8. I want to find a salon in Wellington that does reallllly cool nail art. Not like the art I had done in London recently.

9. I sometimes wish they did vegetarian Big Macs.

10. My favourite city in the world is New York. I saw them filming Ugly Betty there on my trip and couldn't BELIEVE it!. I *heart* Betty!

11. I own more pairs of shoes than I'd ever be able to count.

Here are Tasha's questions
1. What is your favourite animal and why?
A bird, because I am obsessed with them! Probably a hummingbird or a sparrow are my favs.

2. When you wake up in the morning what is the first thing that goes through your mind?
What time is it?

3. If you had to put a colour to your personality what would it be?
Coral. Bright, confident and girly.

4. What's your favourite childhood memory?
My dad standing at the top of the school yard when I was four, to collect me so that I could see my newborn youngest sister, Alice, for the first time!
5. Favourite sweet or candy?
Difficult as a lot of candy isn't veggie! So Galaxy chocolate - I miss that from the UK!
6. Best holiday you've ever had?
Ooh so many - but 5 days in NYC were amazing, and the roadtrip the bf and I did in the US en route to moving to NZ was awesome.

7. Do you listen to one particular genre of music or several?
Several - pop mainly though.
8. What was your dream career as a child?
Haha - a librarian or journalist! Geeeek!
9. Which book changed your life, if any did at all?
I read SO many books as a geeky child that they probably all changed my life. I do love Chaucer though.
10. What's your most treasured possession?
The jewelery I received on birthdays and Christmases growing up. I left it all safe at home with my mum when I moved away.
11. Where would you like to see yourself in 5 years' time?
Ooh who knows! I never planned to ever move to NZ so goodness knows where life will take me next.... :)

Share my journey!

Hello, and thanks for bearing with me as I update you on my last moments in the UK. I'm always sad to say goodbye to my home and my family, especially after spending so long there this time. I'm still missing home right now. Sniff sniff.

Something that lessened the sadness was the panic of fitting a million new beads and crafty bits into my (very generous) luggage allowance of three suitcases! My parents are horrified at how much I compulsively bought! But I couldn't resist as these things are hard to come by in NZ! (That was my justification anyway!)

I managed it (just about!) and had to leave a few things behind (for next time)...

Me and my three suitcases and three pieces of cabin baggage - and the hat I had to wear cos I couldn't pack it! hahaha!

Bye UK!! :(

The journey was eased by a wee upgrade to business class to Hong Kong - so sipping bubbly wine whilst waiting to take off was quite nice :)

Hong Kong - 13 hours in and a quick stop to refuel, strectch my legs and brush my teeth!!

And then eventually I was back at home with tonnes of this to unpack!!

And I have to figure out where to store all of these beads and crafty bits. (This about half of what I brought back!!!!) Yes I am mad. Bead-mad.
Have you ever been away on an extended vacation? How did you find settling back in? :)

What I wore: silver sparkles

Hello all! How was your weekend? I am getting over my cold at last - yay! And only one day left till I go to Mauritius! Double yay!

On Friday I'd promised my sister that I would go for a quiet drink with her, and despite my whinging and stinking cold all day, she held me to my promise! We had a great laugh though and after a 20 minute walk along what I can only describe as a slippery wet country HILL road, in massive platforms, and no lights - with a mist covered paddock next to us, we crashed a party at a cottage that our Mum and Auntie had attended. A bit random!

Here's what I wore (these photos look a terrible quality - sorry :( )

Skirt, H&M (NEW!); top, Tempt; Jacket, Primark; tights, Primark; Shoes, Number One Shoes

Headband, Alannah Hill; earrings (just seen) Shh By Sadie

Charm bracelet, Tiffany & Co; Cuff - stolen from my sister!; Black ring, Topshop; Silver ring, gift.
I normally wear gold toned jewellery so it was nice to change to silver for the evening - do you normally wear gold or silver jewellery?

Keeping Cosy at the Celtic!

Hello all!

The bf and I enjoyed our day at the Celtic Manor - a posh golf/leisure resort 5 mins from my parents' house. The Ryder Cup was held there in 2011 and many celebs stay there when they are in the area.

Anyway, as I was feeling under the weather I chucked on this very shapeless (but cosy!!) jumper for our afternoon there. I didn't get any pics of my evening outfit which is extremely lame!! Boo! Nevermind.
Jumper, Primark.

My new Christmas leather boots, from my lovely Mummy :)

I added a touch of OPI glitter to my nails!

Ring, H&M (current season)

Earrings, Primark
My new nude lippy from Mac - I forget which shade sorry!

Cheeky 'don't ask' candles!! Hahaha.

Bday boy with some of his pressies :)

A selection of the desserts! YUM!
I'm still under the weather but have been on a dress-hunting mission! I needed two dresses for the two beach weddings in Mauritius next week and today think I finally got them sorted! Now for the accessories! ;)
How is your week? :)

Happy Mr B-day!

Hello and happy new year! Today is also happy birthday to the bf! I have renamed it Mr B-day in honour of him, haha.

Mr B :)
The weather is DIRE here and he's had to go to Bristol for work this morning and I've been awake most of the night with a darned sore throat (boo). However, we are slipping off to the fancy hotel in Newport later for a swim, spa, dinner and a night at the lodge. So I hope he enjoys his birthday! It was also my sister's birthday on December 29th - I feel sorry for them both having birthdays so close to Christmas and the new year, but they must still make the most of them eh!! :)

PS I am also having a week's "January sale" with 25% off at my Etsy store using the code "January"! :)

Merry Christmas Eve!

Hi all, I just wanted to wish you all a merry Christmas! It's been almost three weeks since I came back to Wales and time has been flying by. I've not had a chance to come online much so here's a peek at what I've been doing lately...

Getting festive with the family - and Mum's wonky Christmas tree - bless it!!

Spending LOTS of time with my little niece who is VERY excited about Santa!! (And her two aunties being home for Christmas of course - she came running in the house yesterday morning shouting "AUNTIES AUNTIES!" So cute.)
One of the four angels my niece and I made for her tree. She loves making things as much as I do! :)

I've been picking up some cheap bits and pieces for my holiday to Mauritius in January :)

Wrapping looooads of presents - I must say I am very happy with my wrapping paper selection this year, festive birds! Love it!

Some of the jewellery bargains I've treated myself to....

I've switched back to my wintery OPI nail colours to suit the season too!
I've bought (and worn) this new Topshop jacket and Primark vest.
And been wearing my new LBDs too! (Left, Portmans; right, Trelise Cooper).

Hope you've been having a very merry time too and wish you all the best for your Christmas festivities. Thanks for your kind friendship this year, I've really enjoyed it.
Speak soooon,
Sadie

What I wore: for a long overdue catch up!

Hey all, how was your weekend? It's Sunday afternoon here and i'm having a cosy up indoors after a late night last night! This weekend one of my best friends came to visit and it was great fun. She and I went travelling to Australia for three weeks last year when she came to visit me in the Southern Hemisphere.
Froggy and I in Surfers Paradise in Oz, February 2010.

So on Friday night, she, I and our other best friend went for a bite to eat and a glass of vino. It's funny with some friends - you don't see them for almost a year and you still have a ball like you used to :)

Here's my first 'home' attempt of taking pics of what I wore!
Top, Glassons; Leggings, Primark; Boots, ASOS.

Boots, ASOS

Watch, Michael Kors; Leather charm bracelet, Shh By Sadie; Gold bangle, Hay Luv

Amber earrings, Shh By Sadie
I'd just tried out the new 'Babyliss Big Hair' dryer I bought this week - and burned my face!!!! OUCH!

It will take some practice but the results were pretty good (despite the BURN!)

Bracelet, Shh By Sadie

Brooch, Christmas gift from my lovely friend Jeannette in NZ :) I looove it!!

Jacket, Recycle Boutique; Bag, TK Maxx; Leather gloves, Primark.

How was your weekend? I'm off to LONDON tomorrow until Tuesday, shopping and sight seeing with one of my sisters :)
