Shh By Sadie on Once'It

Hi all, I MADE IT HOME! Yay! I don't recommend these 37 hour journeys to anyone. You get on the plane fresh as a daisy and disembark looking like a hobo! It's good to be home though.

I'm just writing a quick post today to say I WILL be blogging from Wales. AND my Shh By Sadie jewellery is for sale on 'invite only' site Once'It tomorrow!! A limited number of pieces will be for sale at discounted prices. This is one of the things that kept me frantically busy last week before I left NZ.

To access the sale, use this link (and feel free to share it!)

DIY + Pink

Well things are exciting with my jewellery line Shh By Sadie at the moment!
There's a new gallery and boutique opening this weekend called Matchbox Studios and I have my own 'cube' within it.

Designers set out their cubes themselves, and so I was wracking my brains to think of a simple but cool way to display my jewellery.

And I came up with this:

I bought wooden letters 's' and two 'h' and sprayed them PINK!
This was the first time I'd ever used spraypaint and it was so much fun. And the colour was perfect!!

This is how they came out - just one coat of pink!

A test-run in the house
And the finished product set up at Matchbox!
I wanted to display things prettily, but without cluttering it all up. So I think this works quite well. There have been quite a few comments on my display on the Matchbox Facebook page already! Yay!

The shop has its launch party this Saturday. I am tres excited!!!!

Weekend Market

Hi all! I know, I know - it's been SO long since I've posted. It's been a bit insane! And each time I go to write a post I realise I need to take a photo of something or other, and then never get time to actually DO that.

So I thought I'd update you on the market I attended on Saturday. It was a great afternoon and some of my new designs went down a treat (which is always good!)...

These necklaces pretty much sold straight away :)

One of my new designs - the pink cross necklace.
Sweet Swallow necklaces and a combination of flower and GNOME rings. Yes GNOMES! Bit mad eh?!?!
Blurry pic - soz!
Illustration anchor charms and skull and cross bracelets.
Button and flower earrings
MY NEW DELIGHTS! OMG I am so obsessed with these ponies right now!
They had grown women cooing over them so it's good to know it's not just me that has a carousel pony fetish! ahahahahah.
I went for a small table this time (big ones were fully booked) but I think I had much better success with a small table as it's less distracting. Any comments?? :)
What did you do on Saturday?

Easter break, part two!

Hi all, SO glad it's the weekend again - wouldn't it be nice to have three day work weeks all the time?!

Here are the remainder of the pictures of  my weekend in Auckland. We also had a couple of days of sightseeing, drinking and shopping in Wellington but I don't want to overload you with photos so I'll keep it short ;)

We caught the ferry to Waiheke Island - and check out the cruise ship that was moored up in the harbour!
Waiheke is BEAUTIFUL!
We had lunch with my friend who was there over Easter too - this was our view!
I took one of my favourite new Shh pieces with me - coral and pink of course ;)
We dined at the Orbit revolving restaurant again. It was my third time there, and actually the service was the worst we'd encountered. Sad face. :(
This is the glass walkway at the top of the tower....scary!!
Views of the city
Rosy cheeked after dinner, wine and cocktails! Oh and high altitude! ;)
Let's hope this weekend is as fun - what do you have planned?

Something that makes me smile :D

Happy Easter weekend everyone, I'm still in Auckland.

I wanted to share some photos of my jewellery that's being stocked in a few independent boutiques in Wellington. It's also being stocked in a fancy design shop, Vesta, in Queenstown - but as that's in the South Island I haven't managed to take pics yet ;)

In the last month two awesome boutiques have stocked my jewellery. The first is Rex Royale, a funky shop on Cuba Street. I was REALLY pleased to have them accept my items as it's one of those trendy, cool shops with a bit of edge to it.

As I mentioned last week, I spotted my pieces in the shop window on my way past one evening!
Some of my items in the shop counter :)

The second of the shops (also on Cuba Street) that stocks my jewellery is independent designer 'emma'. The Cuba Street store is a really interesting space with cutesy furniture and ornaments, as well as fabulous clothes.

I love the furnishings in emma, and they sell other fun handmade jewellery too.
My Nothing But Bones necklace also made it to the shop window! Whoop!

I wanted to show some photos of my pieces in these shops as it is soooper-dooper exciting for me. Considering I started making jewellery (self-taught!!) not even 12 months ago, on a complete whim, I'm amazed that it's now for sale in some of Wellington's coolest shops. Yay!

What makes you smile?

A sunny few days...and a random breath or two!

Hi all, how was your weekend? I've had a wee bit of discomfort with my breathing for a week now, and on Friday evening I ended up at the doctors and then an emergency clinic having x-rays for a suspected partially collapsed lung - yes - WTF?! As it turns out, the x-rays were clear, the physical examination was clear, and so $170 later I'm told to just see how it goes! Argh!

Basically, I feel like I can't take a 'full breath' and then feel panicky / like I have to yawn and can't. Maybe it's stress or anxiety?! But I've never had this before. I've never smoked, never had asthma. So I'm just trying to cope with it at the moment but it makes everyday just horrible. I hate it.

Has anyone had this? Or have any suggestions?!!? A friend at work suggested iron deficiency (I'm a veggie) so I'm going to give the iron supplements a go in the hope that SOMETHING helps. I was even listening to panpipes and drinking chamomile tea last night in bed!

Anyway, I still managed to get out and about with my "discomfort", and here are a few snapshots of my last few days in the sunshine....

Too many drinks and dinner with the girls on Friday night
Dusk in the city on Friday night..
A stroll to lunch on Saturday...this is the road I live on - AMAZING!

A quick lie on the grass while the bf had to run into work...

Part of the beautiful old building I work in...
Watching the bf surf (as I sat on the 'dog end' of the beach with poops and all sorts going on right next to me!!!)
Spotting my jewellery in the window of a Wellington boutique as I walked past on Saturday night!
Stunning views of the city on Sunday morning

Lunch at Scorching Bay (Orlando Bloom lives near here!!!!I WILL spot him one day!) ;)
The Paua shell mural at Scorcharama cafe - so cool!

What did you get up to?
