Weekend Market

Hi all! I know, I know - it's been SO long since I've posted. It's been a bit insane! And each time I go to write a post I realise I need to take a photo of something or other, and then never get time to actually DO that.

So I thought I'd update you on the market I attended on Saturday. It was a great afternoon and some of my new designs went down a treat (which is always good!)...

These necklaces pretty much sold straight away :)

One of my new designs - the pink cross necklace.
Sweet Swallow necklaces and a combination of flower and GNOME rings. Yes GNOMES! Bit mad eh?!?!
Blurry pic - soz!
Illustration anchor charms and skull and cross bracelets.
Button and flower earrings
MY NEW DELIGHTS! OMG I am so obsessed with these ponies right now!
They had grown women cooing over them so it's good to know it's not just me that has a carousel pony fetish! ahahahahah.
I went for a small table this time (big ones were fully booked) but I think I had much better success with a small table as it's less distracting. Any comments?? :)
What did you do on Saturday?

30 Before 30 - have you?

Howdy! So I'm in my last year before the BIG 3-0 and have decided to get on with making a '30 before i'm 30' list. So before I make this ever-so-important list, I want to know if you've ever made one yourself? And do you have any funny / interesting suggestions for me?
My sisters and I as kids - I've always had a thing for market stalls by the seems of it! ;)
I am going to put things in my list that I want to do, or do again. That's one thing my bf couldn't understand.
I said to him that I want to stay out dancing until 6am.
He said, haven't you done that?
Yes, once, ten years ago.
So why would you put it on your list?
Because I want to do it again!
He still didn't get it.

Today I read Cheryl's 26 before 26 (lucky girl has four years on me!) and it made me sit down and start planning mine. And then I realised that I've always been the kind of person that just goes and gives things a go when they want to do things, and making my list became difficult.

Here are some of the things I'm proud of accomplishing in the last 12 months:
Climbing Franz Josef glacier in the RAIN. (With a sulk or two)

Learning to snowboard very basically. There may have been a sulk here too.

Clay pigeon shooting for the first time - and hitting my targets by the end of it! (NO sulks here)

Organising and pulling off Sweet Fashion Auction!! WOW!
Starting Shh By Sadie. THAT was scary!

Quad biking at Cape Kidnappers
Climbing Mount KauKau with a HANGOVER! Thanks BF!!
Organising a large horse riding expedition AND getting my boot pooped on WHILST sitting on a horse - impressive right?!
Here are my draft first ideas for my new list:

1. Stay out dancing until 6am (ahem, as above OBVS!!)
2. Go back to New York (another 'repeat')
3. Lose at least a stone
4. Do something DIFFERENT with my hair
5. Swim in the sea here in NZ
6. Do something fun at least once a week
7. Manage the Butterfly Creek hike without keeling over like last time...
8.......?

And that's all I've come up with for now!
I don't want to jump out of a plane or anything (HELL NO!) so I need to think of more fun things to do before i'm 30 - 23 more of them in fact.

So help me!
Please make your suggestions below - and send me links to your lists if you've done them! :)

A fortnight of big sales!

Hi all, as I mentioned yesterday, I went to the monthly Mighty Mighty Market on Saturday. It was a bit of a stress for me because this was the first time I was setting up without the bf to help me - not only did I have the tonne of jewellery and props to carry, I also needed to find somewhere to park as you can only park for 2 hours at a time in the city.

Anyway, I sorted it all out and it turns out that this was my best market ever! I sold twice the value of my previous 'best' market!! And had a couple of glasses of vino with my friends who kept me company on the day :)

Here are some photos:

These are some of my new pieces - I hand draw the image, colour it in and shrink it in the oven!

These are hand drawn and coloured by me also!

This is another hand drawn little friend!
New colourful bib necklaces made from recycled fabric.

These were the biggest sellers on the day.....
I made these skull necklaces at midnight on Friday and sold four of them the following day!! I have just ONE left, in purple, until my new skull beads arrive :D

No SkullKing Allowed Necklace
No SkullKing Allowed Necklace
ALSO I have MORE news! Last Sunday I had a meeting with a lady who owns a gallery here in Wellington - she was really enthusiastic about my jewellery and bought 25 pieces on the spot and ordered another 12 to be delivered to her tomorrow!
So now my jewellery is stocked at the White Room Gallery in Island Bay - whoop whoop :D

So it's a super exciting time right now! :)

Mighty Mighty Market Deux

Hey all! How was your weekend? Mine was massively busy and today (Monday) in work I just about felt like my eyelids were on my desk ALL day! I am too old for all of this!
A snap of one of the posters - they are so funky!!

So I did my second ever Mighty Mighty Market. As I showed you before, it's such a cool, funky bar and the market sells a lot of amazing vintage finds and handmade jewellery. I even broke my 'no spend' rule and bought a SICK scarf - I will show you it when it's out of the wash basket :)

I'd designed some new pieces for the market and was SO HAPPY with the feedback I received. Good times! Even with a hangover (eek!!).

Some of the noobs - new chain bracelets with heavy chain, daisy rings, rose rings...
More noobs - daisy studs and flower hair clips
Always best sellers!

MORE new designs - can you spot the skull ones?? I love my new skull beads!

I took advice from the extremely lovely and incredibly hilarious La Sophia, and had my earrings 'hanging up' this time!

Here's a little collage of some of the new designs...
There are more pics on my Facebook page, as well as a 48 HOUR COMPETITION to win a pair of rosebud earrings!!
You could win a pair of these beauts! :)
What did you do this weekend?

What I wore: A quickie

Hi all! Just a quickie. This has been SUCH a crazy week! On Tuesday I went to a beauty evening at Farmers with my friends - I bought a fab new BRIGHT PINK blusher (yes the free bubbles may have gone to my head by that point!) and I will show you that next week. I also met up with a girl from the same city as me, the sister of a friend, so we had a great gossip about 'back home' and a late night drinking!

Then the university I work for launched a huge exhibition on Wednesday, so that was a late night of drinks, schmoozing (yawn) and food.  Yesterday I took some lieu time to spend the afternoon sorting out my new jewellery bits and pieces for the Mighty Mighty Market I am attending on Saturday. And tonight we have an awards ceremony at work before dashing home to host a dinner party!! OMG!

I've also: dashed out to buy a new table cloth for my stall, written some freelance copy for an American fashion website, come up with TWO exciting ideas which I will share with you next week, watched three rugby games (again - yawn), cleaned my apartment and swept the terrace (it was looking so messy after winter) and Skyped my ill Grancha back home for a whole 2 minutes which was hilarious!

Back to the good stuff: here's a quick post of an outfit I wore one evening in Feeeejeeee:

By now on the holiday I think the bf had given up on my nightly outfit shots!! Ha!
Kaftan, Primark; Shorts, Cotton On; Wedges, Hannahs; Clutch, The Body Shop.

Ok I hate my face in this pic, but as the other one's so blurry I needed to use it!!

Orange ring, Shh By Sadie; Shell bracelet, Greece.

Bangles, Primark and New Look; Ring, Lanzarote.
Earrings, Shh By Sadie
After weeks like this, it makes me feel like I was here a year ago, not a week ago!!!!
What has your week been like? :)

Mighty Mighty Market

Hi all! I meant to post these photos yesterday and then before I knew it, here I am on Tuesday lunch time!

So on Saturday I held my second ever jewellery stall, this time at Mighty Mighty Market. MMM is a monthly event, and I was AMAZED by how many people were there searching through the vintage clothes, enjoying a beverage and having a good time. There was funky music courtesy of the DJ, free punch for the stallholders (it was their 4th birthday event) and a great atmosphere. I'm definitely signing up for the next one!

I'd had some sad news that morning, (more about that another time), so didn't feel fully sprightly when I got to the market - however the punch and atmosphere soon boosted my spirits!

Me and my stall - am I like a gypsy selling my wares?!?! :)

One big statement necklace!!
From behind the stall...

All in all I sold 18 pieces (YAY), and that night at my cheese and wine party, my friends bought another 7! What a fruitful day! :D
