What Sadie Did This Week

Like I did last week, I'm going to share the things I did this week that are PERHAPS of mild interest to anyone other than myself!

Chunky jewellery galore!
 2. On Wednesday I went to 'Chicks at the Flicks' with two of my besties. We saw a preview of the new Jennifer Aniston film, 'Just Go With It', and for the ticket price had a 'VIP' experience with a glass of bubbles, comfy chair and a GOODIE BAG! We were all really excited to see what was in the goodie bag because it was advertised as being worth $100. Well. We were left disappointed!
These were our 'goodies'!!
There wasn't a scrap of makeup, chocolate or fun in sight! We had a food magazine, 'older ladies' magazine, ice tea, muesli (!!), porridge (!!!), pain killers (!!!!) and cracked heel foot cream sample. I can't even be bothered to list the rest as just looking at this bag of rubbish has sent me to sleep!
3. I realised I am a sucker. I was sent a voucher for 20% off shoes, and went straight to the shop after work yesterday. Their marketing plan sure worked on me and I came home with these babies:
I've been loving similar styles to this for a while, and so thought I would splash out seeing as they were 20% off! I'm planning on wearing them to dinner tonight so will try and get a pic of them 'on' later!

4. I braved the dentist and had a filling. I've had pain in the tooth on and off for a while but as it kept coming and going and i'm a wuss, I never did anything about it. Well last week it was unbearable so I made an appointment and went and had my filling. The dentist was shocked at how long i'd lasted without getting it fixed, as the previous filling had fallen out! So the moral of the story is - get your teeth seen to! As my lovely nan told me last week, they've got to last you a long time!

6. The boyfriend and I spent a great weekend in Taupo and visited the active volcanic areas, ate out and got some lovely exercise in the 'fresh' air.

This week wasn't as exciting as last week so I am going to end here! I have a busy weekend planned so will have more excitement coming up. Tonight I am going to Logan Brown for my friend's graduation dinner (it seems like forever since I graduated back in 2005!). LB is a fancy-pants restaurant in Wellington so I'm looking forward to a nice meal, cocktail (of course!) and rocking the new shoes!

And tomorrow a group of us are going on a mini road trip to Castlepoint as a farewell weekend for our good friend who is moving to Sydney. Good times!

What did you do this week?? :)

To post or not to post....

Yesterday I wore (what I considered) a pretty awesome dress to work. The only problem with this awesome dress was that my day was not quite so awesome. It involved going to the dentist for a "very deep" filling, after which I was going straight home to put my joggers on and get into bed to recover from the trauma! (Yes I am a wimp!!)

And so I had the dilemma of whether to waste my awesome dress (as the boyfriend would be home too late to take the usual balcony shots) or to attempt to take the pics myself with a self-timer (I've never tried this lark before).

Whilst still mulling over this quandry, I stepped into the bathroom at the dentist. And saw a WALL LENGTH MIRROR. Yes it was grubby and a bit dodge taking pics of MYSELF in a bathroom. But it seemed like the best option being pre-filling and all.

So I took them anyway. And couldn't decide whether they were too grotty to post. But the awesome dress spoke to me and said 'please don't waste me'

So here it is.
Excuse the pics ;)
You have gotta laugh at my face in this!!
Dress, Primark; Belt, Primark; Shoe boots, Matalan; Watch, Guess.

I particularly love the scum on the mirror as seen in this shot! So glamorous!

Get ready for the close up!
Ring shot!
Ring, Topshop
And here's my 'flasher mac' as the boyfriend describes it. My Mum bought me it a couple of years ago and it's shiny plastic - great for the drizzle rain we had yesterday!
Raincoat, Primark.
What you can't see in these pics is the platform sole on the shoe boots. The boots are black and the platform is grey / black snakeprint. Pretty funky!

Hopefully next time I'll be posting an equally awesome outfit but in a much nicer location! :)

Do any of you have any tips for taking pics of your outfits by yourself!?

Completed Craft Swap

I mentioned previously that I'd joined an online craft community called Craftster - then Renee commented on one of my posts to let me know about the wonderful world of Cut Out and Keep!

I joined Cut Out and Keep and find it a much nicer site to use than Craftster (it's a lot more modern, easier to navigate and generally prettier!).

Through Cut Out and Keep (how many times have I typed this in the last few lines - will now call it COAK) I met a lovely girl called Pam who lives in Hawaii and we agreed that she would 'vet' me for the site. This means that she completes a swap with me and verifies that I did actually swap!
The package I sent to Pam
We agreed on a personalised swap with a slight Alice in Wonderland theme...and I posted it out to her this week. Can't wait to hear her comments, and also can't wait to receive her package!
This is what I sent her:

Felt cupcake brooch and hangers
Some New Zealand novelty goodies!
A personalised pin cushion
A personalised button bangle with sea charms
A personalised button bangle with sea charms
The whole stash!
I hope she likes the packaging!
I wrote quotes from Alice in Wonderland on a piece of note paper and wrapped one of her gifts in it. I like it!

It should take a week or so for it to arrive in Hawaii, so watch this space soon for her reaction! :)

Have any of you completed a swap?

Loose layers

My normal style usually revolves around dresses, tunics or skirts. I don't wear trousers and tops that often and so I decided to go for a change this week. I guess these aren't 'proper' trousers being harem pants, but it's a start!

Butterfly top, Glassons; Vest (just visible), Primark; Harem pants, Matalan; Jacket, Primark; Bag, TK Maxx; Wedges, Bought in Miami.
One of my sisters brought this ring back from Indonesia for me, it's made out of one piece of shell! I love it, but it's super delicate so I don't wear it often as I'm scared of breaking it.
I also love the trend for mini pocket watch necklaces...this one was a birthday gift from my lovely girlfriends here in NZ :)
What a beautiful evening - won't be many more of those now that daylight savings has ended!

Underwear for Curves!

I'm a curvy girl. I've had 20-something (ha!) years to get to grips with this and am fine with it (most days!).

Yet it was only this year that I discovered Elle Macpherson Intimates - shock horror. Where had these bras been my whole life?!
I've found this style great - and have it in every colour now. Whoops!!
Having a larger bust, I have at times been self-conscious about it. I'd found in the past that some bras, although supportive, made my chest look far more 'look at me' than I'd wanted. Great for a Saturday night - not great for a Monday meeting in work. And such was my dilemma. Until I discovered Elle Macpherson Intimates.

For a lady with a larger bust, a good, SUPPORTIVE bra is a must. And these bras have actually been almost life changing for me. Seriously! I can't recommend them enough!

At last I have found a bra that is comfortable, supportive AND looks fabulous!! No more of those uncomfortable bras, back ache, slippage (please tell me I'm not the only girl who's had to deal with hoisting the cups of her bra back into place?!) etc etc.

Hoorah for Elle's blinking good bras. And I applaud her for making them in a great range of sizes.

The reason for this post is that on my way back from a road trip to Lake Taupo this weekend, we stopped at Otaki (a tiny little town that basically has a row of outlet stores). I went into Bendon Lingerie and came out 45 minutes later, laden with Elle lingerie. $20 for a bra?!?! $10 for matching knickers?!?! Wow.

Now I seem to have an Elle bra in every colour. Must remember that next time I get overly excited at a sale!!!

PS: I'm entering the great giveaway at Along Abbey Road. Check it out and keep your fingers crossed for me - it's my first ever blog competition!! :)
