Shh By Sadie on Once'It

Hi all, I MADE IT HOME! Yay! I don't recommend these 37 hour journeys to anyone. You get on the plane fresh as a daisy and disembark looking like a hobo! It's good to be home though.

I'm just writing a quick post today to say I WILL be blogging from Wales. AND my Shh By Sadie jewellery is for sale on 'invite only' site Once'It tomorrow!! A limited number of pieces will be for sale at discounted prices. This is one of the things that kept me frantically busy last week before I left NZ.

To access the sale, use this link (and feel free to share it!)

How is your week going?

The end of a weekend in Noosa (and the lime blazer again!)

Hi all! Well you all had a peek of the lime blazer that I bought in Brisbane. I love it THAT much that I had to wear it out again on our last night in Noosa. :)

We went for a fantastic meal (and cocktails!) at bistro c, which was right on the beach. Fun!

My new lime blazer - you can't really see much else of the outfit in these pics so I wont bother listing them
Blazer, Dissh.

I wore my extensions again....
In the evening they blend pretty well. I've not worn them in daylight yet!

Before dinner we took a stroll to the backpackers that I'd stayed in last time. We didn't go in as I'm pretty sure we'd have looked out of place!
This was where we ate!
Right on the beach!

We had a lovely meal - go to bistro c if you're ever in Noosa!
Here's a sneak peek of one of the pairs of earrings I bought in Brisbane.
Skull earrings, Lovisa; Sunglasses, O'Neill.

And before we knew it it was time to head back to the airport. BOO!

Exploring Brisbane

Hi all. I am catching up with posts on my lunch break. I have three days left in work before I go to Wales for three weeks, and as you can imagine, I have a list of things to do as long as my arm! And having a broken laptop doesn't help!

A couple of weeks ago the bf and I popped off to Australia for a long weekend. We spent two nights in Brisbane and two nights in Noosa.

Here's what we got up to in Brisbane....

My suitcase had been neglected for a month!
As we fly so often we are gold Air NZ members and get to use the perks of the lounge - free bubbles and mags in this case!
Brisbane at night

Cocktails at a Turkish restaurant
This was a man-made beach in the city! Amazing!
I struggled to get a decent photo of the city hall...

The bf was a bit more determined than I was!

We hit the shops hard!

I really wanted this dress but it was too small. I'm gonna hunt it down online or just pick up a skirt and top and make my own version!
My goodies! I *heart* Aussie shops!
We went for Friday night drinks with my friend and her boss who were in Brisbane that weekend for business.
I wore my NEW LIME blazer, earrings and dress!
Cocktails on the riverfront :)
Brisbane was great. It rained all day on the Friday (our typical luck!!) but we spent most of the day in the shops so didn't mind too much ;)

Have you ever been to Brisbane?

Guest DIY Tutorial: Lavender Hearts

Hello all!
How has your week been? I have had one million and one things going on - as well as a broken laptop! And so I have not been blogging. Shame on me!

Today I have a wonderful guest post DIY from Bella at Bella Blonde. Her blog is a mix of beauty, lifestyle and craft - right up my street!

So here's Bella....

Hello everyone! Bella from ‘Bella Blonde’ here! I’m so excited to be doing my first guest post on one of my favourite blogs ‘What Sadie Did’. I’m sure you will all agree Sadie is very creative and I love seeing her new jewellery designs as well as her lifestyle posts.

My post today is a tutorial of how to make ‘lavender hearts’ which are lovely for decorating your own home or giving as presents!

Here is an idea which not only looks cute, but smells GORGEOUS! Whatever your sewing capability or whether you have a sewing machine or not, this is something that you can all try your hand at.

DIY Lavender Scented Hearts

Here is a step by step guide of how to create your own.

First of all, you will need to get your lavender ready (of course, if you don't want to use lavender you can use something like rose instead). You can buy bags of lavender buds ready prepared, however, i got a bunch of dried lavender and 'de-budded' them myself.

Here's how i did it:

Dried Lavender

Simply run the stem between your fingers to pull off the buds. As you have to do this stem by stem, it can be quite a lengthy process.

Place them into a jar for storage.

The next step is to make the heart shape bags, select your chosen fabric.

I love floral designs and girlie colours!

Cut a heart shaped template to the side that you would like your bag to be.

Draw around the template onto the wrong side of the fabric, cut out leaving about 1cm around the original template. Do this twice to create the back and the front.

Place the two pieces together with the right sides facing and pin into place.

Hand or machine stitch along the original outline of the heart. Leave around 3cm un-stitched along the straight edge of one side of the heart.
Use pinking shears to trim around the edge of the stitch and then turn the heart inside out by passing the material through the 3cm gap.

Sew ribbon in a loop to the top of the heart to make a hanger. I added a bow to each side for this particular heart, but you could use a button, bell, or anything else that takes your fancy!

Using a tea spoon, put some of the Lavender buds inside the bag.

I didn't want to fill the whole bag with lavender, so i filled half up with stuffing from an old pillow.

Once filled, hand stitch the opening to complete!!

And there you have it......

What do you think? Are you going to give it a go?

I’d love to see if you do- send me your pictures to: bella—blonde@hotmail.co.uk or on Twitter: @bellablonde1
I hope you have enjoyed this tutorial and I would like to thank Sadie for having me!

What a great tutorial - I am definitely going to try this next month when things are less hectic. Thanks Bella :)
