Weekend Snapshots

Hi all, as you may know, I'm a big fan of Instagram (you can find me @sadiesadiesadie). Because of my addiction to this app I find myself snapping pics of pretty much everything I do!

Here are a few snaps of what I've been up to over the weekend, including attending the launch of Matchbox Studios on my lonesome!....
I brunched alone! The bf pretty much always makes breakfast / brunch on Saturdays but he was in Auckland, so despite waiting for my breakfast to arrive, by midday (yep, for reals, I was one lazy mare!) I was hungry enough to make my own ;)
PS how good is George Foreman  - grilled mushrooms are such a treat and all you need is a splash of balsamic vinegar!
I got my craft on. I made this necklace for myself with the plan of wearing it that night at the gallery launch I attended - alone!! - due to the bf being outta town. I did meet up with him afterwards when he came straight to town from the airport to meet me :)
The skull is huge! And the beads I bought whilst in Gay Paree

I wore this sick-as vintage jacket thing over a vest and leather-look leggings. I didn't wear the new necklace in the end!
I picked the jacket up a couple of weeks ago along with another vintage blazer that is yet to be collected from the dry cleaner - oops.

A sneak peek of some of the new designs I worked on over the weekend. I <3 them and have already decided to keep two for myself!
Chocolate nails matched the frosty weather we've been having.
I found this on the bench at the bus stop. A thimble! Really?!?!
And these are the accessories I ended up wearing - instead of the gigantor skull I'd made especially for the occasion. Ah well, I'm a fickle lady :)
Faux fur snood, ASOS thanks to my Mum; Vintage clutch, Recycle Boutique; Necklaces both Shh By Sadie :)
Have you ever attended an event alone? How'd it go?

Last 10 days in Instagram Part 2

Ooh, so you came back for part two? I'm impressed! Well here goes.....

Valentine's Day was a quiet affair at my parents' house - the bf came back from London that evening so that we could have dinner together. Sweet :)
He bought me these cupcakes from the Hummingbird Bakery - the packaging was SO cute!

I bought him this chocolate lollipop :)
I lurrrve flamingos and so the bf endeavours to get me a flamingo card as often as he can! This is one of my favs for Valentine's this year.

I had a pink rose from him which I added to the bunch of flowers he'd bought me for our four year anniversary a week before.
I struggled to fit three months worth of shopping into three suitcases......

And let's not even get started on the amount of jewellery I had to pack!
I made this little cupcake bracelet for one of my besties and sent it to her for a belated bday gift

I experimented with my new Accessorize nail polishes (they're good, I recommend them!)

And I squeezed in a game of Lego with my niece on my last evening home!
OKAY so I lied - there are a few more pics that I will add for part THREE tomorrow. Just a COUPLE I promise :)

Holiday Nails

Hi all, how's your week going?

I am back from Fiji! We arrived home at 1am this morning and I was in work for 9am - I should've planned that better in hindsight!haha.
I have a lot of catching up and can't wait to see what you've all been up to!

Here is one blog post I'd scheduled for when I was away but it didn't publish - so here it is whilst I sort through my holiday photos!

For my holiday I took these three nail colours. I've been looking forward to a change from navy and dark purple that I've been wearing all winter!

Pink and Coral Revlon; Chi Chi
I used to dislike blue and green nail varnishes but this month I've really liked turquoise. I bought this Chi Chi nail polish for $10 last week and love it! I don't wear it on my toes as I prefer to keep them pink! I'd never tried Chi Chi nail polish before but am really happy with the result. Great colour! And only $10!

Haha my hands look like granny hands! :D

What are your favourite nail polishes?

A mixture of OPI and Nail Rock

Hello folks! Well this week has been ridiculous. It's Friday morning and I seriously don't know where the week has gone!  Work has been non-stop (which is very unusual for me) and I don't even know where my evenings went. I have been behind on blog love and comments, so it's been a week of catch-up. I love reading everyone's blogs and so have been trying to keep up to date with them rather than sitting and posting my own. Hope that's okay :D

Yesterday I took some time out to sit down and experiment with my OPI black shatter. I hadn't been too impressed with the 'cracks' I'd been getting so had a little nosey on some other blogs for advice. Basically, it seems to be that the thicker the layer of crackle you apply, the thicker the cracks. After a good mess around, here's what I ended up with...

A bit messy, but getting there!
The ring IS big, but I also have the tiniest hands! I've actually never met anyone with teenier hands than me!!!
Well, while I was poking around on ASOS (again) this morning, I came across these little babies:
Pony Skin White Black and Pink
They're in the clearance section, and with free P&P I am thinking of trying them out - the shades I am going to buy are the pink pony skin (shown above) - a bit mad, by I'll give them a go - and the metallic red style, as I thought they would be cool for autumn here in NZ.
Metallic Red - nice huh?
BUT I am a bit wary of messing them up! Has anyone tried Minx nails or these Nail Rock nails?!? Any tips??

I'm also looking at watches on ASOS - I have a thing for watches but come and go with wearing them (to me, bangles trump watches usually!). This is the watch I'm wearing today:

It's a charm watch by Guess that I bought many years ago (when I was 21 and living in Las Palmas in fact!), but I still kinda love it. I will show you my fav watches on ASOS tomorrow, so as not to bombard you with info today. :D

I attended a craft swap on Weds and received an AWESOME present, but will wait to do a bigger crafty post when my swaps arrive to Jaclyn and AJ. (Don't want to spoil their surprises!).

Tonight I'm going to a gallery launch and I'm really looking forward to it...as I work for a design college within a university, there's always these sorts of things going on, and some of them are great, but others are snoozeville. This one promises to be saucy and boozy, so I will let you know how it goes!
How have your weeks been? I love hearing from you all :D
Much love XOXO

Katy Perry for OPI and THE pink blazer!

Hooray, I am feeling a lot better today. I didn't sleep well last night at all, so came to work a bit later. When i arrived I had a parcel waiting for me - the Katy Perry for OPI shatter nail varnish I'd ordered on Sunday! Hoorah! I put it on straight away and am impressed with it! I've wanted Minx nails for a little while, but don't know where to get them done here in NZ, so this is the next best thing. Have any of you tried Minx or shatter varnishes?

Here is my first attempt at shatter nail varnish (at work!):

Here are the pics of me wearing the vintage pink pinstripe blazer I told you about on Saturday. I washed and ironed it super quickly so that I could wear it to work and to dinner and the movies with my friend afterwards.

(We went to see Scream 4 which I actually really enjoyed! I'm not a horror movie fan nowadays but really liked the film and it took me back to when the first ones came out 15 years ago...ahhh!). Has anyone else seen it?? What did you think? It was quite funny, cos when I came back to the house afterwards (the boyfriend is still away !), there was a light on! EEK! But I knew I must've left it on myself that morning so tried not to get too scared about it! Hahaha.

Jacket, thrifted at Recycle Boutique; Dress, Primark, Tights, Primark; Boots, TK Maxx, Watch, Guess.

Bag, Witchery

I wore the jacket with a floral printed tea-dress, thick black tights and black suede heeled working man-style boots. I wanted to keep it toned down a bit more so kept the accessories to a minimum and wore my metallic Witchery bag. Every time I went to the bathroom and saw my huge shoulder pads I had to crack up!! :D
